<p>The sealing plug is partic. for wooden barrels, having one or more hungholes, and in which oxidisable wines are stored. Each barrel has, at least in its peripheral bunghole, a removable airtight cap (5, 6, 7), with a seal (5) pressing against the bunghole edge and preventing ingress of air-irrespective of the level of wine in the barrel. The barrles are stacked in the horizontal position with their peripheral hungholes uppermost, allowing filling emptying and washing out in the stacked position. The seal can be a ring of elastic material insensitive to wine, e.g. an elastomer suitable for foodstuffs, bearing against the inner hole edge and compressed between two rigid components. The cap is flush with the outside of the barrel, so that this can be rolled without trouble.</p> |
