Polyethylene layer on paper printing foil - is treated to allow separation of polyethylene

Printing foil consists of a dimensionally stable support layer e.g. of paper and a thin layer of polyethylene. The print is to be applied to the latter layer whose surface is made print-receptive e.g. by lacquering. The polyethylene is applied to the paper in the liquid sate. The surface of the paper is treated with a repellent before application e.g. by spraying, of the polyethylene to ensure that the polyethylene hardens to a moderately adhering separable layer. Lacquering of the polyethylene may take place immediately after solidi cation.
