The vacuum unit (1) actuates the lock through two rods (2, 4). A plate (3) on the lower rod has a slot (5) in which the hooked end (7) of the upper rod (4) slides. When the lower rod is drawn downwards for locking, the hook engages with the top of the slot and presses a pivoted hook (9) into an aperture (14) in the bracket (13). Manually applied tension in the upper rod (4) will not release the lock until the vacuum is released, when the spring (10) withdraws the hook (9). The system achieves positive prevention of manual unlocking not attained by the vacuum alone.
