A transverse cutting machine for material tracks is used during the production of paper bags. It includes a grooved shaft fitted with cutting grooves and a knife shaft coordinated with it consisting of a total of four knives two each for coarse and fine cut offset by 180 deg. in relation to each other. The knife shaft has its bearing accentric to rotating face plates. The central drive wheel (13) with the stays (15) supporting the equalising bevel wheels is connected to a bevel differential with a transmission ratio of 2:1. The drive shaft bevel wheel (17) may be coupled to the face plate shaft (1) and with a blockable lever (19) moved by a disc rotating at the revolutions of the face plate shaft (1) attached to the other drive shaft bevel wheel (18).
