<p>An ignition voltage supply system is provided for a rotary combustion engine of the type including a fixed housing having gas inlet and outlet ports, a rotatable shaft in the housing, a rotary piston eccentrically mounted on the shaft within the housing, and at least one spark plug secured in the rotary piston. The ignition voltage supply system comprises a distributor electrode mounted in an insulated distributor member secured to the eccentric of the shaft, the distributor electrode being electrically connected with a power source and extending to a surface portion of the distributor member, and at least one feed electrode mounted in an insulated feed member secured to the piston and electrically connected to the spark plug. The feed electrode extends to a surface of the feed member to be directly opposed to and spaced from the distributor electrode once during each rotation of the shaft. A labyrinth air gap formed by cooperating outwardly extending projections on the distributor member and inwardly extending openings on the feed member so that the ignition voltage is prevented from passing along the air gap to the exterior thereof and is transferred across the gap from the distributor electrode to the feed electrode when the electrodes are opposed.</p> |
