发明名称 Procédé et dispositif pour souder ensemble de larges bandes métalliques
摘要
1,116,031. Welding by pressure. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY COMPANY. 9 June, 1965 [19 June, 1964], No. 24442/65. Heading B3R. In welding together a pair of metal strip marginal edge portions the edge portions are curved in a plane perpendicular to their longitudinal directions and are advanced together to a weld point with a V-shaped gap therebetween in advance of the weld point, high-frequency current of not substantially less than 50 kc. per sec. is caused to flow on opposed edge of the gap in advance of the weld point and the edge portions are forced into contact at the weld point by restraining the edge portions against movement in the direction of the width thereof while pressing against the convex aspects of the curved surfaces in a direction transversely thereto and permitting the curvature of the edge portions to change while under pressure. In an embodiment flat metal strips from coils 10, 11, Fig. 1, are advanced through corrugating rollers 52, 53 and the edge-corrugated strips are advanced with a V-shaped gap 16 to the weld point w. Contacts 14, 15 engaging the gap edges supply current of 50 kc. per sec. or higher and curved pressure rollers 58, 59, Fig. 3, press the edges into a forged butt weld. Additional rollers 54, 55, 56, 57 engage the strips on opposite sides of the weld point to prevent lateral movement of the strips. The welded strips are passed between rollers 30, 31 to flatten them or may be left corrugated. The strips may be pre-corrugated. In one modification one edge is curved convex upwardly and the other edge is curved convex downwardly between pairs of rollers adjacent the weld point. In another modification such rollers are provided in advance of the weld point where single rollers are arranged. The weld may be lapped or mashed.
