Press for timber material boards - has press table guides with joints of plastically deformable material to provide safety overload

The press is for the manufacture of boards of timber material. It has a press frame with a displaceable supported press table and an overload safety unit. The guides (8) for the press table (6) are divided into planes, which are at right angles to that containing the table. The joints thus formed each contain an overload safety unit (14). The overload consists of a material, partly filling the joint, which is plastically deformed, when a certain support force to be transmitted by the joint (8) is exceeded. The material is a non-ferrous metal, esp. copper. The safety unit may have electric pressure-sensitive sensors between the sections (10, 13) of the guide. The sensor signal charges the press drive during an overload.
