<p>In the finishing processes for piece goods, yarns, film and paper, the material passes between two rollers. This can be in applications such as transporting, drawing, heating, embossing, fixing, dehydration or stabilising the web. A pneumatic or hydraulic inflatable tube is inserted in the gap between two or more rollers, so that it runs parallel to the longitudinal orientation of the rollers. The tube is pressed partially flat so that its walls press against the roller surfaces to rotate with the rollers. The tube projects out to each side of the rollers giving a bulge with the ends of a circular cross section, and the ends are bonded to rotary seals. The pressure medium is passed into and out of the tube through rotary seals. The design ensures that the pressure is applied equally to the material independently of the length of the pressure zone and the width of the material. The pressure is adjustable without changing the length of the pressure zone. Pressure zone lengths can be selected up to 30cm. for example. The material passes through at a constant speed through the pressure zone, without any abrasion on the material.</p> |
