Fibre optics data transmission system - transmits information signals, and normalisation signals in gaps to give continuous transmission

The system consists of a transmitter, a glass fibre transmission path and a receiver. A photosensitive component is used at the receiving end, converting optical into electric signals and applying the electrical signals to an amplifier, which in turn delivers amplified signals to a signal processing unit. So long as the transmitter and receiver correspond with each other, the transmitter continuously delivers signals, so that when no information signals are transmitted, balanced normalisation signals are transmitted. Two amplifiers (3, 4) may be used.
