Mechanism is for removing liquid-mixable or liquid-soluble particles from sheets moving through a printing press. It comprises a wiper roller (20) capable of wiping the sheets, means supporting the coller adjacent to the sheets, roller drive belt (82) rotating the roller so as to collect the particles as it wipes across the sheets, a receptacle for the liquid arranged near the roller, and means (50) acting on the surface of the roller so as to remove the particles and transfer them to the receptacle. The latter means may comprise a scraper and a guide extending from the scraper to the receptacle such that the particles are guided there as they move due to the centrifugal force of the rotating roller.
