PURPOSE:To attain a remote diagnosis for the whole computer including an option by reading identification information and alteration history information set on each printed circuit board based on a prescribed command, and returning the information through a communication line to a central computer. CONSTITUTION:On respective printed circuit boards 4a to 7a, a piece of self- identification information (ID) and a piece of alteration history information (REV) are set by a setting means such as a DIP switch. When the prescribed command from the central computer 3 is inputted, the identification information and the alteration history information set in the respective printed circuit board 4a to 7a are read, and returned through a communication line 2 to the central computer 3. Thus the remote diagnosis can be executed for the all printed circuit boards 4a to 7a including the printed circuit board added as an option 7. Further, even when the printed circuit board is altered, the hardware constitution of the whole computer including the altered part can be easily confirmed on the central computer side by eliminating the necessity for a maintenance crew to go to a site. |
