[Also in Division F2] A synthetic plastics rivet comprises a hollow shank (32), Fig. 4, not shown, closed at the end remote from the head, and formed with a locking pin (34) projecting axially from the closed end. The rivet is upset, hot or cold, by a tool (37) which deforms the shank (32) into a head (33), Fig. 5, not shown, and then by means of a plunger (40), pushes the pin (34) into the bore of the shank to lock the rivet. The pin (34) may be enlarged at its outermost end (52), Fig. 7, not shown. A recess (14a), Fig. 2, not shown, may be formed in the closed end of the shank (32) opposite the pin. |
