Large cylindrical milk container lid lifting device, has track on either side of container row, and lugs which make contact underneath container lid flange. The lid lifting device is spring loaded and is fitted with a vibration generator. A lid discharge transporter has a number of guide rails on which the lids with their protruding flanges are supported. The guide rails are inclined with their bottom ends near the top end of the inclined rails of the lid lifter. The transporter has a separate drive unit to move the lids along the rails.
