<p>Openings (30) are provided in the inclined side walls of the hopper (1) along its lengths, near grooves (7) in which the conveyor chains (8) are guided. Horizontal links (31) below each opening can slide in guides which are pivoted to the apparatus at the front. The rear end of each link pivots on a pin (33) on a sprocket (34) around which the chains (8) pass. The pins (33) are 180 deg. out of phase so that when one is at top dead centre the other is at bottom dead centre. Spaced teeth (37) are provided along the length of each link, the tops of which are always above the level of the conveyor slats (10).</p> |
