The rear axle for a heavy road vehicle has gears in two parts (1a, 1b) with hydraulic motors (102a, 102b) and output shafts and sleeves (104a, 104b). The sleeves are held in roller bearings (106a, 106b, 107a, 107b) and teeth 108a, 108b) engage a toothed wheel (109a) is mounted on a shaft (110a) with teeth (111a). On the teeth (111a) are two toothed wheels (114a, 114b) with interior teeth (115a, 115b). These wheels are carried on bearings (117a, etc.). Half shafts (17a, 17b) have teeth (22) engaging satellites (23), usually five in number and engage a crown wheels (24) carried by a sleeve (24a). There is also a hydraulic ram (38) (or pneumatic) controlled by an electromagnetic valve. This gives the required amt. of differential action.
|
