Disposable hypodermic syringe made of synthetic plastic - has hinged tabs to guide piston rod and avoid contamination of cylinder wall

The open end of the syringe cylinder is provided with a pair of hinged tabs which can be pivoted up and open to allow the piston to be inserted. When the tabs are folded down they lie in a common transverse plane normal to the axis of the cylinder. The free outer ends of the tabs meet on a dia. of the cylinder and both tabs are clipped to the cylinder in this position. The meeting edges of the tabs are centrally slotted to fit around and guide the piston rod. The tabs are pref. moulded integrally with the cylinder being attached to an external flange at the open end by pellicle hinges. The flange is pref. moulded with hook type catches to clip the tabs in their closed position.
