1510331 Dyeing synthetic fibres with disperse dyes or brighteners CIBA-GEIGY AG 15 May 1975 [16 May 1974] 20680/75 Headings D1B and D1P [Also in Division C3] Synthetic fibre materials are dyed (or brightened) with dyes that are sparingly soluble to insoluble in water, in the presence of an ester or a salt thereof derived from (i) a polyadduct of propylene oxide and a polyhydric aliphatic alcohol of at least 2 C atoms and (ii) an acid containing the -SO 2 - group, the ester or salt thereof being watersoluble. The polyhydric alcohol preferably contains 3-6 C atoms and the polyadduct M.W. is 1000-6000, especially 2000-3,500. The preferred products are sulphuric acid and sulphamic esters and carboxylic esters containing a sulphonic acid group. Synthetic fibre materials are cellulose acetates, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyolefines, polyacrylonitriles and particularly polyesters. Preferred dyes are disperse dyes. Examples 9 and 10 relate to the use of optical brighteners. |
