<p>The cooling system for a motor vehicle engine has a heat exchanger and fan. The fan is driven by a hydraulic motor fitted into a fluid pipe connecting the engine to the radiator. A small proportion of cooling system flow is short circuited, this flow being controlled by a temp. dependent control valve. This valve can be for example operated by a thermostat. The short circuit flow is closed when an allowable operating temp. is reached, and the main flow circuit is then opened.</p> |
