Nitrogen-contg. liquid fertiliser compsns. - contg. dicyandiamide as nitrogen source and nitrification inhibitor

New fertiliser solns. based on N cpds. (opt. together with phosphates and/or potassium salts) contain dicyandiamide in combination with commercial nitrogenous fertilisers (I) and/or their mixtures in dissolved form. (I) increase the water-solubility of dicyandiaide so that it can be incorporated into the solns. in amts. sufficient for its activity as a nitrification inhibitor to be evident after application to the soil. In an example, 6.8 g of dicyandiamide were dissolved in a fertiliser soln. contg. 39.5 wt. % ammonium nitrate, 30.5 wt. % urea and 30.5 wt. % water. In the resulting soln., 16.2 wt. % of the total nitrogen is dicyandiamide nitrogen.
