Prodn. of new pyrimidinederivs. of formula (I) comprises reacting thioethers (II) with diamines R2R3N(CH2)nNH2. (where R1 is H, alkyl, lower alkenyl, cycloalkyl, or phenyl opt. substd. by >=1 of lower akyl or alkoxy, OH or CF3; R2 and R3 are H or lower alkyl, or together form a 5-6 membered heterocycle, opt. with a second heteroatom (N, O or S); n is 1-8; R4 is naphthyl, lower alkenyl, cycloalkyl, alkyl, or R5-7-substd. phenyl; R5-7 are H, Cl, Br, I, F, lower alkyl, NO2, acetyl, RRN-, ROOC- or RO-; R is lower alkyl,a nd R8 is lower alkyl).(I) are systemic amoebicides and trichomonacides of low toxicity. (I) is e.g. 1-allyl-5-(3,4-dichlorophenylcar-bamoyl)-1,4-dihydro-6-OH-2(3-dim- ethylaminopropylamino)-4-oxo-pyrimidine.
