Prodn. of new ergopeptine derivs. of formula (I) and acid-addition salts comprises reacting reactive derivs. of acid (II) with salts of amines (III). In the formula R1 is H or 1-4C alkyl. R2 is 1-5C alkyl. R3 is H Cl or Br. R4 is H or Br). (I) increase wakefullness so are useful in treatment of cerebral insufficiency. The usual dose is 0.1-10 mg/kg. In an example 1-methyl-10 alpha-methoxy-dihydro-beta-ergosine was prepd. from (III) hydrochloride and 1-methyl-10 alpha-methoxy-dihydrolysergic acid oxalyl chloride/DMF complex.
