An electrical soldering and welding tool has a handle with a tubular heating element at right angles to it. The heating element has insert openings at both ends and a working insert can be attached to it. To use this tool more universally, an intermediate sleeve, made of material with a very good heat conductivity, is fixed in the insert opening. Two different working sleeves can be inserted, one with the same diameter as the outer diameter of the intermediate sleeve and the other with the same diameter as its inner diameter. The heat input can be controlled steplessly. The two inserts can be combined as desired and used for different purposes such as preheating, cutting or unsoldering. The heat transfer can be adapted to the requirements and the heat input can be adjusted to suit.
