<p>Pentenecarboxylate s of formula (I) are new: (where R1 = H or halogen, Ri and R5 = H, or 1-4C alkyl R3 = H, CN, lower alkynyl or lower alkyl, R4 = lower alkyl, R6 and R7 = Cl or Br). Used as pesticides, esp. insecticides. A typical cpd. is 3'-phenoxybenzyl 2-isopropyl-5,5-dichloro-4-pentenecarboxylate, n20D = 1.5508. This was prepd. by refluxing 2-isopropyl-5,5-dichloro-4-pentene carboxylic acid in hexane with thionyl chloride, and treating the product with 3-phenoxy benzylic acid in pyridine and benzene.</p> |
