The structural element, comprising a wooden beam assembled from a number of pieces with end connecting cutouts, is used in block-built or log-cabin type construction. It incorporates a pair of parallel side planks (2, 3), with spacer pieces (4) interconnecting them at the ends, leaving an open space between their interfacing sides. A series of cross connections are fitted in this space, keeping the side planks at a constant distance apart. The spacer pieces may form the beam's end parts, being made of compacted wood with cutouts at the end facing the side planks to provide the necessary connections.
|
