The paper sheet dispenser is esp. for copying machines. A space within the housing limited by side guides is provided to receive an inserted container holding a stack of paper sheets. This space is open at one of its end faces and at least at part of the upper side running parallel to the sheets. A conveyor picks up the uppermost sheet. A separator is designed to hold all the sheets except for this top one. The conveyor and separator can be moved up and down to correspond to the height of the paper stack. At least one projection on the container is used to control this positioning as it is inserted in the machine.
