<p>1519154 Tunnelling; tunnel lining GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA and HOCHTIEF AG FUR HOCH UND TIEFBAUTEN 2 July 1975 [2 July 1974 27 Feb 1975] 27884/75 Headings E1F and E1S A method of constructing an underground tunnel comprises successively advancing elongate drive members 11 relative to a frame 10 which supports and guides the members, moving the frame forwardly when the members have been advanced, moving a rear shield 11' forwardly either with the frame or separately so that the rear end portions of the members 11 are supported by the rear shield at all times, and sealing and supporting the tunnel wall exposed behind the rear shield as the latter is moved forwardly. The rear shield may be in the form of a multi-part ring with arcuate sections individually adjustable relative to the frame by rams or a metal structure having a maximum length over the roof zone and whose lower ends terminate adjacent the horizontal plane containing the tunnel axis. The sealing and supporting may be effected by spraying fluid concrete from a nozzle rotating about the tunnel axis; or by forming a floor lining within the rear shield, e.g. by spraying, introducing fluid concrete, or placing arcuate elements 22', placing preformed metal lining elements 24 and wire mesh mats 24 into the rear shield so as to lie adjacent the roof and side walls, and spraying or introducing fluid concrete over the tunnel wall and lining elements when the rear shield is moved forwardly. Rotary cutters 16a are mounted on arms 16, 16' which are pivotable in a vertical and horizontal plane and movable linearly in planes parallel to and transverse to the tunnel axis. The arms also comprise endless conveyors for transferring the debris from the cutters to endless conveyors 18, 18'. A drifting cutting may be provided for cutting a channel in the floor of tunnel.</p> |
