1494657 Carrying handles for batteries CHLORIDE LORIVAL Ltd 28 Aug 1975 [9 Aug 1974] 35245/74 Heading H1B A battery has a handle in the form of an inverted U-shape and made of resilient plastics, the handle having at each end at least one lateral projection 23 which is received in a hole of such non-circular section that the projection can pass through only when the arm 22 of the handle is twisted against its natural resilience, arm 22 springing back when projection 23 has passed through the hole so as to prevent withdrawal of the projection, the projection and/or the margin of the hole having a generally helical ramp surface arranged to twist arm 22 as it is inserted into the hole, thereby allowing the lateral projection to pass through the hole. As shown, the cross-section of the projection + arm may be key-hole-shaped, and the hole 12 in the battery shaped likewise; by virtue of the helical ramp the arm 22 may be twisted through about 90 degrees on passing through the hole; the arm then springs back resiliently to assume the orientation illustrated, whereby projections 23 support battery 10 for lifting. |
