The combustion engine lubrication system is intended to ensure continuity of lubrication when the engine is in an inclined position. It comprises oil lines (2, 3) arranged in the sump (1) and connected to the inlet of the oil pump (4), which lines contain branches (3) with closeable (7) ends reaching into the corners of the oil sump. The closure means (7) are operated by floats (8) responding to the oil level around the branch suction orifices. The closure means may consist of a pivotable flap (6) carrying a float member (8) which is so arranged that, when the oil level is sufficiently high, it holds the flap open. The opening of the flap may be limited by a stop (9).
