PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of ink discharged uselessly from a discharge port by selecting driving of a discharge recovery means corresponding to a recording head which is selected to be driven for recording. CONSTITUTION:This inkjet recording apparatus is equipped with a BK recording system 21 using BK(black) ink and an M recording system 22 using M(magenta) ink. A color mode selecting means 33 selects a recording mode among three modes, i.e., BK monochromic mode, M monochromic mode and BK.M mixing mode. Separate discharge recovery means, that is, a BK discharge recovery means 24 and an M discharge recovery means 25 are provided respectively corresponding to a BK head 1 of the BK recording system and an M head 11 of the M recording system. The color mode selecting means 23 also selects which of the recovery means 24 and 25 (one or a plurality of the means) should be driven in compliance with the selected recording mode. |
