1413412 Roller conveyers R GEBHARDT 9 March 1973 [13 March 1972] 11485/73 Heading B8A An accumulating roller conveyer comprises conveying rollers 2 drivable by a belt 3 by means of rollers 4 which are supported on shafts 5 pivotably mounted in a frame member 6. The rollers 4, by means of springs 8, are normally urged into driving engagement with the rollers 2 and the belt 3, the tension of the springs 8 being adjustable. With articles propelled on the conveyer in the direction 11, if the articles are stopped, the rollers 4 move out of positive engagement with the rollers 2. Rapid discharge of the conveyer follows if the direction of drive of the belt 3 is reversed, positive re-engagement of the rollers 4 causing the articles to be conveyed in the direction 12. In a modification, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the rollers 4 are controlled by pivoted L-shaped arms (17) provided with adjustable biasing weights (16). In a further construction, Fig. 5, each roller 4 is supported on an assembly of two arms 21, 23 pivoted together at 22, the arm 23 being pivoted at 24 to a frame member 1.
