The mechanism ensures an accurately controlled movement of a window leaf from an offset position into the closed position where the leaf surface is flush with the rest of the window. The vertical leg of the leaf (3) is fitted with a horizontal plug (28) provided with a neck (29) and extended head (30). The plug works together with bracket (33) fitted at the same height in such a manner that the neck is positively guided on the edges of a slot (31) in a direction perpendicular to the window surface. When the head (31) reaches an enlarged part (31) of the slot the dia. of the head clears the enlarged part and the sliding movement of the leaf can take place.
