Ripening of sugarcane by use of alcohols

Sucrose yield of sugarcane is increased by treating sugarcane a few weeks prior to harvest with isobutanol (2-methyl-1-hydroxypropane), n-propanol or ethyl alcohol as sugarcane ripening agents.
