The motor vehicle roof hood can be lifted by remote actuation on a roof opening. The paired support levers of the hood are held on the hood and the frame around the roof opening. The roof covering hood is hinged and does not project beyond the roof lining into the vehicle compartment. The bearings of the lever (5) on the frame are held in guides (7) so that the levers are collapsed at an acute angle to each other when the hood (2) is lowered. This angle is constantly changed on extending the hood. The levers on one side will become parallel to each other when the hood is fully extended. Each guide is a slot (8) in a bracket (6). The slots have widened ends so that a rolling collar can be readily inserted to run in such a slot (8).
