The resistance heating body is produced from a flat strip (2) of electrical resistance material. The flat strip (2) is split by means of incisions (3), which are guided obliquely and/or transversely with respect to the longitudinal edges (2'), into flat strip sections (2'') which can be pulled apart from one another. This results in the resistance heating element being adaptable to heating devices of different length and requiring no support therein. The resistance heating element is suitable for heating fans or toasters. <IMAGE>
