This device has a U-shaped guide rail (1), to be fastened in the item of furniture, and a roller cage (3) which can be moved along in said rail. A receiving rail (4), to be fastened on the drawer, is guided between the rollers (2) of the cage (3). The roller cage (3) is produced in one piece from a visco-elastic polymer by injection moulding. Between two rigid legs (31, 32) there are provided two spaced-apart, flexible tongues (33, 34) which are formed by a reduction in cross-section and of which one (34) is corrugated and acts as a resilient tension member on the rigid cage legs (31, 32). The cage is fitted with projecting pins (35), while the receiving rails (4) have recesses (41) for the engagement of the pins (35). In the depicted end position, the roller cage (3) is thus automatically locked to the receiving rail (4), before the drawer with receiving rail (4) is pulled out, if the roller (2) runs beyond the front edge (12) of the upper leg of the guide rail (1).
