1515530 Controlling gas turbines LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS GmbH 2 Oct 1975 [22 Oct 1974] 40386/75 Headings F1G and FIT A gas turbine unit comprising a combustion gas generator 1 feeding an axial or radial flow turbine 3, e.g. driving an electric generator 5, is provided with fixed and variable throttles 9, 10 respectively in the pipe-line 2 to the turbine, the variable throttle 10 being controlled by an electromagnet (16), Fig. 2 (not shown), in response to an operating condition, e.g. speed, torque, or gas pressure or temperature. Pipeline 2 also includes a pressure relief valve 6, cyclone separator 7 and filter 8. The electromagnet operates a valve (12) controlling gas leak-off from pipe-line 2 in response to a continuous or step error signal. For testing purposes, using cold nitrogen, a branch duct may lead to the turbine from a point upstream of fixed throttle 9. The unit may drive aircraft auxiliaries. |
