To improve braking efficiency on slippery ground the tractor tyres are cleaned by a jet of compressed gas. Near each wheel (1) and solid with the chassis (2) is a nozzle (3) to feed gas. There is also an adjustable deflector (4) to suit the speed of the vehicle. The two nozzles are joined by a double pipe (5) and a single one to the gas source (7) via a valve (8). Control of this valve is by the brake pedal. When this is depressed, jets of gas clean the tyre treads, of mud etc. at a given pedal pressure.
|
