<p>Soft water is recovered from sea-water by using solar heat and the drying effect of a current of air. The appts. comprises an evapn. tank, a condenser and an orientable suction device mounted on a roller track. The assembly consists of a long, narrow tank with a slight slope opening into a box (A) for the collection and removal of salt. The floor of the tank is made of a black material for the more rapid heating of the water by the sun. The water has only a slight thickness and is covered with a transparent material The cost is very low and the appts. is operated by the elements; it can be the means of obtaining a private freshwater supply.</p> |
