<p>1516230 Finishing fabrics HANES CORP 22 Dec 1976 [29 Dec 1975] 53594/76 Heading D1S [Also in Division B4] A machine for continuously cutting strips from an advancing tube of material e.g. fabric while maintaining the material under selected uniform tension comprises a supply 11 of tubular material 14, a plurality of cutters 60 for cutting the material into strips, means 75 for winding the strips into inidividual rolls 15, at least two skeyable rotatable cylinders 26, 29, 34 for supporting and advancing the material to the cutters and adjustment means for skewing the cylinders selectively to cause the tube of material to advance to the cutters at selected rates of speed. The cylinders 26, 29, 34 are rotatably between plates 22, 23, the plate 22 being rotatable on a stationary shaft 19 by means of a hand controlled gear drive 51-54, Fig. 3 in order to skew the cylinders. The cylinders 26, 29 are completely covered with a friction surface 27 whereas the cylinder 34 is only partly covered in order to leave a metal surface against which the cutters 60 operate. The tube of material is fed onto the cylinders via a spreader 12 which includes a number of ribs 114b connected plates 117, 118 via further ribs 114a, 114c and hinge joints 123, 124. The ribs 114b are urged radially outwardly by springs 139 so as to maintain tension on the tube material; the tension of the springs is varied by a handle 133. The tubular material is supplied from a tray 89 which is rotated by a motor 44 via a variable speed drive, Fig. 8 (not shown).</p> |
