A carrier 34 for holding a number of containers comprises an open ended tubular section of flexible sheet plastics material 35, the wall of which forms upper and lower layers 38, 42 joined by side walls, the upper layer 38 having apertures 36 for receiving tops of containers located between the side walls and the lower layer 42 also having apertures 40 through it aligned with the apertures in the upper layer. In one form, Fig. 1 (not shown), the carrier is produced from sheet plastics material which is heat sealed at edges (11), (13) to form a tube (10) which is then flattened and moved between spaced dies (16), (18) to form the spaced apart apertures extending through both layers of the flattened tube. The tube is then cut into lengths to form a section (26) having three pairs of spaced-apart apertures (20), (22). Half-circle cut-outs (28), (30) are provided along the folded edge (32) to form holes for carrying purposes. When the flattened tube is erected the largerdiameter apertures 40, corresponding to the apertures (20), receives lower body portions 50 of bottles 44 and the necks 48 of which have been forced into the apertures 36 corresponding to the apertures (22). Alternatively, the necks of the bottles may be entered through the apertures 40. In another form, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), rectangular openings are formed in the side walls of the carrier through which the necks of the bottles may be entered and through which the body portions of the bottles project when positioned in the carrier. The apertures in the upper and lower walls of the carrier are of the same size. |
