1275664 Knitting ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 3 Sept 1969 [12 Sept 1968] 43504/69 Headings D1C and D1K A closed stocking, formed on a two-cylinder circular machine, comprises a tubular portion 18, Fig. 6, closed by a pouch portion 19, the latter comprising a face layer 20, composed of courses extending from selected wales of the tubular portion 18, a back layer 21 composed of courses extending from selected wales of the face layer 20, and a central layer 22 between the face and back layers and composed of courses extending from the remaining wales of the face layer, the last courses of the tubular portion and the back and central layers being knitted together after the last course of the central layer has been displaced circumferentially relative to the last courses of the tubular portion back layer so as to twist the layers and form the pouch portion. In the super-posed cylinder machine, inserts 7, 9 are provided in the upper and lower cylinders and the yarn 15, 15' is fed in by the guides 14, 14'. The knit work is withdrawn by an air current or mechanical means into the upper cylinder. The stocking 18 is knitted and then every other needle, viz needles 17, is transferred to the upper needle cylinder 1 leaving needles 17a, 17b in the lower cylinder 2. Then yarn 15 is laid by guide 14 in needles 17a, 17b to knit layer 20. Each third needle 17b is then transferred to the upper cylinder leaving needles 17a in the lower cylinder. Then needles 17a, 17b respectively knit yarns 15, 15' to form layers 21, 22 while needles 17 continue to hold the last course A of the main stocking. When layers 21, 22 reach the same length as layer 20, the upper cylinder is rotated at least through 180‹ e.g. 270‹, 360‹ or more to twist layer 21 relative to layers 21, 22. Needles 17b are transferred back to the lower cylinder and the cylinders relatively rotated to the same extent in the opposite sense to the original position. Needles 17 are then returned to the lower cylinder and one or more run-proof courses are knitted. |
