A label or ticket is applied to the surface of a plastics moulding by conveying a single lable by suction form a supply and positioning it in a part-mould of an open mould and holding in place by reduced pressure until the moulding cpd. is charged to the mould. The label is removed from the mould attached to the resulting moulding. The surface characteristics of the label are not critical i.e. there is not need to roughen or otherwise preparing the the contact face of the label to ensure reliable adhesion to the moulding. The same applies to the mould wall which can be highly polished. Mouldings with very smooth surface may be provided with securely bonded labels.
