1530189 Microbicides; deodorants CIBAGEIGY AG 13 Dec 1976 [15 Dec 1975 14 Oct 1976] 51945/76 Headings A5B and A5E A microbicidal composition consists of (i) a halogenated hydroxydiphenyl ether of formula: where X is halogen, methyl, methoxy or hydroxy, Y is hydrogen, methyl or trifluoromethyl, Hal is halogen, m is 0, 1 or 2 and (ii) an anionic surfactant which is an alkylsulphonate, alkylsulphate, triaminealkylsulphate, alkylnaphthalenesulphonate or dialkylsulphosuccinate, the ratio of (i) : (ii) being 1:2 to 1:30; alone or in combination with a solvent, e.g. water or alcohol. The compositions are used as disinfectants in laundries, for metal, plastic or painted surfaces, for furniture or wall or floor coverings or for applying to the skin. They may also be used as cosmetic deodorants. |
