Two fingers introducing the weft are provided, one on each side of the weave, to each of which a weft thread is fed and which move synchronously in their own, although neighbouring parallel planes from a position outside the edge of the weave to a position just in front of the opposite edge of the weave. The finger stroke is sufficiently great to allow the finger ends near the end of their inwardly directed stroke to cross over and, in the other dirction of movement, to lead the fingers out over the edges of the pattern to be woven. Furthermore one needle is provided with a drive which takes the needle upwards at a point near to but not exactly at the end position of the inward stroke of the fingers. During their return stroke both fingers wrap weft thread loops around the needle, to which a securing thread is fed running in the longitudinal direction of the pattern to be woven and below the very top position of the needle, being caught by the needle in its downward movement and drawn in a loop through the two weft thread loops. The needle is provided with a lock preventing the needle from catching other threads when the securing thread is drawn down. |
