Tyre pressure monitoring system with display - uses pressure transducer in air space to operate transmitter providing signal picked up by radio aerial

Each wheel rim is provided with an air pressure transducer located inside the tyre air space. The transducer is able to trigger a miniature high frequency radio transmitter when the tyre pressure falls below a predetermined minimum value. The radio transmitter is powered by its own long life miniature battery. The signals are picked up by the vehicles existing commercial radio via the normal ariel. The radio is fitted with a conventional traffic radio decoder which either interrupts the broadcast programme or switches on the set when a tyre signal is transmitted. The tyre transmitter is fitted diametrically opposite to the tyre inflation valve to assist wheel balance.
