The piston (13) which oscillates in the cylinder (12) carries a ring magnet (24) which actuates the reed switch (16) by either closing or opening the contacts (17). The piston is solid with grooves (26) for sealing rings (27) and a central groove (21) for the ring magnet (19). The ring magnet is made in the form of a conventional piston ring which can be sprung open to fit in the groove.
