Cathode for TV CRT - has cap with emission layer and plates close to heater to increase heat transfer

The cathode for a c.r.t. is mushroom-shaped and consists of a tube mounted by a holder on an insulating support. It has one end closed by a cap whose surface carries the emission layer. The other, open tube end contains a folded heater. In order to reduce heating time through increased heat conduction between getter and emission layer, the cap (4) has one or several large area plates (5) projecting into the cathode tube (3). These plates (5) separate adjacent parts of the folded heater (1) and rest on its insulating coating.
