Feed for domestic animals has ca. 5-20 wt. % of powdered clay silicates, added to the usual animal feed (e.g. legumes, cereals and oilcake). Feed for meat animals and domestic animals such as dogs, cats or small birds. Addn. of the powdered clay silicates gives an animal feed which approximates more closely to the diet of free-living wild animals. This gives an increased resistance to disease (so that use of medicaments, esp. antibiotics, is reduced), and meat quality is improved due to the presence of mineral salts normally absent from commercial animal feeds. |
