The furnace is used for heating flat metal strip material. The latter is guided continuously through esp. radiant heat providing furnace for heat-treatment purposes. Heat is transferred to metal strip or also plate material by convection and radiation and fuel is saved. The flat material runs through furnace chamber made from perforated plates. These plates separate combustion chamber from furnace chamber. Hot combustion prods. flow through the plate perforations with pressure drop sufficient to generate turbulence. The hot gases impinge on the material to be heat treated with max. turbulence. Hence the material is heated with hot turbulent combustion gases and by radiation.
