Cardboard with high resistance to moisture is made by enclosing a layer of foamed plastics between two paper sheets. Plastics material is applied in the form of either powder, paste or a preformed sheet. The process is automated and continuous and foaming is completed by applying heat. Solid foaming agents which yield nitrogen are preferred. The plastic may contain fillers, pigments and fire retardants. |
